Furnished apartments in DIFC for stays of weeks or months

DIFC is an odd place to live, and that's mostly a compliment. It is Dubai's financial free zone, with its own courts and its own regulator, sitting between Downtown and the older stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road. Offices outnumber homes here. The people who sleep in DIFC tend to be the people who work in it, or very near it.

All of our DIFC apartments are in a single residential tower, and right now they are all studios. That makes this page simpler than most. If a well-run studio close to your desk is what you want, read on. If you need a separate bedroom, the last section is for you.

Weekdays in suits, weekends in slippers

The district has two moods. On weekdays it is busy, which is what you'd expect from a place made mostly of offices. At weekends it turns calm. Some residents love that calm. Others find it a little flat and head elsewhere for their Saturdays.

Gate Village is the part you will actually use. It holds art galleries and a cluster of well-known restaurants, which makes it the obvious choice when you need somewhere to take a colleague or a visiting client to dinner. It feels more like a workplace with good food than a neighbourhood, and you should go in expecting that.

Getting out, and what the building covers

If you would rather not drive, the district has its own Metro stop, Financial Centre, and it sits on the Red Line. Before you commit, check where your other regular trips fall on that line; if they sit along it, you may find you rarely need a car. Downtown is the neighbouring district, and there are shopping malls nearby for the bigger errands.

The tower carries a lot of daily life on its own. There's a supermarket and cafés, other food and drink outlets, an ATM, a pool, a gym, an indoor garden and a lounge area, plus 24/7 security. Allocated parking is included if you bring a car. On a long stay, not having to leave the building for milk is worth more than it sounds.

Studios only, and who they suit

Our DIFC homes are studios. A studio is one open room, so before you commit it pays to think about where you'll work and where you'll sleep. Ask us which ones are free for your dates and we'll tell you how they compare.

A studio here works well for one person on a project or secondment, or for a couple where at least one of you has an office in the district. You walk to work, you eat well and your evenings are your own. It works less well if two people both need to take calls from home all day.

Where DIFC falls short

Families are the obvious mismatch. The tower does have a kids' play area, yet a studio is still one room, and offices outnumber homes in the district, so check that the rest of your family's routine works from here before you commit.

If your job is somewhere else entirely, you'd be paying for a location you barely use. And if you want a lively street life on your days off, the weekend hush will wear thin. In those cases we'd steer you to a different part of the city.

Questions people ask

Is DIFC dead at weekends?

Quieter, certainly. Weekdays are busy and weekends are calm, which suits people who want to rest after a heavy week. If you want company and noise, the Metro gets you out of the district easily.

Can I manage a monthly stay here without a car?

Yes, for most people. The district has its own Red Line stop, Financial Centre, so check that your regular trips fit that line, and the tower has a supermarket, cafés and an ATM for everyday needs. If you do drive, allocated parking is included.

Do you have one-bedroom or larger apartments in DIFC?

Not at the moment. Our DIFC homes are all studios in one tower, so ask us how the ones free for your dates compare. If you need a separate bedroom, ask us and we'll suggest another area.

What is there to do in the building after work?

There's a pool, a gym, an indoor garden and a lounge area, plus food and drink outlets. Gate Village's galleries and restaurants are within the district for evenings out.
