Off Al Wasl Road, between Downtown and the Jumeirah coast, sits a pocket of Dubai that feels more like a neighbourhood than a showpiece. Our apartments here are at City Walk and at Central Park at City Walk, a cluster of residential buildings set around a landscaped park.
It suits people who want somewhere central to sleep, eat and get on with work, without living on top of the Downtown crowds. You can walk to dinner. For most other things you will want a car or a taxi.

A normal week here
City Walk is an outdoor street of shops, cafés and restaurants built by Meraas. Living beside it means breakfast, a coffee meeting or a quick supper are a short walk away. That matters more than it sounds in Dubai, where plenty of addresses leave you driving for a sandwich.
Around Central Park the mood is calmer and more residential. Depending on the building, you get pools, a gym, jogging and walking tracks, children's play areas, gardens and outdoor spaces with barbecue and picnic spots. Security and concierge run around the clock. In practice, the evening walk round the park and a swim become part of the routine fairly quickly.
Moving around from here
The location is the point. Downtown is on one side and the Jumeirah coast on the other. Anything beyond the street usually means a drive or a cab for the people who live here, so build that into your plans from day one rather than hoping to manage without.
Planning to keep a car while you are here? Check how parking works for the specific apartment before you commit, and we will confirm it for you. Coca-Cola Arena, the city's large indoor venue, is part of City Walk itself. If you are in town for a run of concerts or events, you will barely need to leave the street.
Picking the right flat
Our mix here is mostly one-bedrooms, spread over several buildings. If you are here on your own, or as two people on a posting that runs a few months, a one-bedroom is the sensible choice: the bedroom is its own room, so sleep and the rest of the day stay apart.
At times we also have a larger two-bedroom, and the one we manage here at the moment has an assistant's room. That is the one for a family relocating with a nanny or help, or two colleagues who want a little more distance from each other. These larger units come up less often, so ask early if you need one.
Where it falls short
If you will not drive and do not want to rely on taxis, think twice. Walking covers food and shopping on City Walk, not much more. If you want sand under your feet every morning, the coast is close but not on the doorstep. And if you are after the busier, taller Downtown feel, this is deliberately quieter.
We do not usually have studios here. If you want the smallest, simplest place for a short solo stay, another district may suit you better.

Will I be stuck without a car of my own here?
Not for daily food and errands on City Walk, which you can do on foot. Getting to the office, the beach or anywhere further afield is a different matter, and that is when people here reach for the car keys or call a cab. Tell us at the start whether you will be driving, and we will check the parking arrangement for the apartment you have your eye on.
Is it a good area for a family with young children?
It is one of the calmer central options. The Central Park buildings have children's play areas, gardens and pools, and the park itself is good for walks. Families who need room for help at home should ask about our larger two-bedroom.
What is it like on Coca-Cola Arena event nights?
The arena is part of City Walk, so if noise or crowds on event nights would bother you, it is worth checking the venue's calendar against your dates. When you enquire, tell us if you are sensitive to this and we will talk you through which of our current apartments sits closest to the venue.
Can I work from the apartment comfortably?
Our one-bedrooms give you a separate bedroom, so a day of calls in the living area does not take over the whole home. When you need a change of scene, the cafés on City Walk are a short walk away.
